Dr. Karyn Moffatt is an Associate Professor in the School of Information Studies at McGill University and the Canada Research Chair (tier II) in Inclusive Social Computing. Her research interests are in the areas of human-computer interaction (HCI), accessibility, and social communication technologies. In particular, Dr. Moffatt is interested in how novel computing applications can be designed to be more inclusive of diverse needs and preferences across the lifespan. She both studies socio-technical environments to better understand human challenges and information needs, and designs and evaluates new computing technologies in response to those findings. Recent projects have examined how to facilitate social sharing for people with early to mid-stage dementia, how to augment communication for people with complex communication disorders, and how to support older adults in maintaining their physical activity routines.
