This project investigates the spatial relationship between the lung microbiome and disease progression in CF patients. Because microbial populations and inflammatory markers vary significantly across lung regions, treatments targeting dominant pathogens may fail to address region-specific infections, potentially explaining why chronic infections persist despite treatment. Understanding these local host-microbe dynamics is therefore critical to improving patient outcomes.
