My research analyzes the role of breath in media, technology, and social interaction. My current research looks at AI text-to-speech models that produce breathing sounds and how encountering these sounds changes the user's experience. Additionally, I've written about how breath is utilized as a communicative tool in classical music, breath's use as a historical signifier in Black art, and the affective power of the sound of breath in videos of police violence.
