My thesis research focuses on participatory methods, audiovisual recording, and digital cartography to evaluate the walkability of the built environment. For this project, participants are asked to take a walk while recording first-person video, spatial audio, and GPS data. The recorded materials are then used to conduct an interview about their experience, with particular focus given to non-visual sensory input.
The final deliverable is a web-based map that synchronizes audiovisual footage, location data, and interview materials. This website provides a method to revisit the walk, allowing for analysis of the built environment supported by audiovisual information and participant commentary.
