My research program focuses on the pathophysiology of respiratory and locomotor muscle dysfunction across the spectrum of disease severity, from rehabilitation to intensive care. I am particularly interested in the mechanisms underlying exercise intolerance and respiratory muscle overload in chronic and acute respiratory conditions. My work integrates advanced physiological assessments, including electromyography (EMG), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), and dynamic respiratory measurements, to investigate muscle function, oxygen delivery, and ventilatory mechanics. I also explore how targeted rehabilitation interventions and ventilatory support strategies can improve patient outcomes,
reduce dyspnea, and optimize recovery. By bridging fundamental physiology with clinical application, my goal is to develop personalized therapeutic strategies that enhance physical function and quality of life in individuals with respiratory limitations.
